Lewis Hamilton (vegan)  is on course to become the most successful F1 Driver in history. He has become just the second driver to win six F1 world titles after clinching the 2019 championship in the United States GP. With this win, he is just one title behind Michael Schumacher’s record.

“Still we rise, still we rise,” said a jubilant Hamilton over team radio. “What an incredible weekend. Thank you so much guys for today, and to everyone who came out. I can’t believe it. I really can’t believe it.”

Lewis Hamilton is vegan in an attempt to pursue the healthiest possible lifestyle and avoid damaging the planet. The Mercedes Formula 1 driver said he had been inspired by a documentary What The Health (on Netflix)

“Still we rise, still we rise,” said a jubilant Hamilton over team radio. “What an incredible weekend. Thank you so much guys for today, and to everyone who came out. I can’t believe it. I really can’t believe it.”

But while his career is undeniably important to him, the athlete is also passionate about veganism, environmentalism, and animal rights. Here’s how Hamilton turned into a vegan icon.

Earlier this year, he posted on his Instagram Stories, “I’m sad right now with the thought of where this world is going.” He continued, “agriculture farming is the largest pollutant we currently have by over 50 percent, far more than our travel industry combined.” He added, “go vegan, it is the only way to save our planet today.”

He isn’t just interested in going plant-based for his own health. He added, “animal cruelty, global warming, and our personal health is at stake.”

His journey started with a vegan documentary, and to help others make the switch, Hamilton co-produced another vegan documentary: 2018’s “The Game Changers.” (Also on Netflix)
