MS Fonda said that she was inspired by the climate activism of Greta Thunberg,  who also happens to be vegan.  and said that she’s returning to civil disobedience nearly a half-century after she was last arrested at a protest.

A Capitol Police spokeswoman told ITK that, in total, 17 people were arrested for “unlawfully demonstrating,” and charged with “crowding, obstructing or incommoding.”

Fonda. an Academy Award-winner told The Washington Post earlier this month that she intended on being apprehended while protesting in Washington every Friday for the next 14 weeks. A Twitter account for Fire Drill Fridays, an initiative which aims to have politicians address climate change, tweeted at 10:45 a.m. Friday morning that Fonda, 81, was “walking to the US Capitol to demand a “#greeennewdeal.” With several following her, Fonda was bundled up in a long red coat and wore a black hat.

“I’m going to take my body, which is kind of famous and popular right now because of the series, and I’m going to go to D.C. and I’m going to have a rally every Friday,” Fonda said.
