The Jane Goodall Institute’s newly released vegan cookbook “#EatMeatless: Good for Animals, the Earth & All.”will help you to stop eating meat.
The Jane Goodall Institute, founded by world-renowned primatologist Dr. Jane Goodall, has launched its first-ever cookbook. Entirely plant-based, the book is entitled “#EatMeatless: Good for Animals, the Earth & All.” Dr. Goodall wrote the foreword.
“Right now, you have the choice to create a better world by considering the positive impact you can make through a plant-based or more plant-based diet.”
“Every day we have the choice of what kind of impact we want to make,” Dr. Goodall writes. “Right now, you have the choice to create a better world by considering the positive impact you can make through a plant-based or more plant-based diet.”
In an interview earlier this month, the primatologist known for her work with chimpanzees, condemned animal agriculture. “It’s becoming more and more clear that the obsession with eating meat and dairy products and eggs is totally destroying the environment. It’s creating methane, it’s wasting water, and it’s bad for our health,” she said.
Pointing to her own journey away from meat, Dr. Goodall explains how she became aware of the immense suffering of animals raised for food nearly fifty years ago. “I looked at the piece of chicken on my plate and thought ‘this represents fear, pain, death,” she wrote in the foreword.
“More than anything, this book is intended to help you realize how what you eat really does matter.”
The soon-to-be-87-year-old says it’s never too late to make adjustments to your diet. And small steps make a difference, too, she says. “Vegan food used to be tasteless and awful,” she says, but today “really good vegan cooking is some of the best I’ve ever tasted.” The book contains more than 75 recipes including soups, meaty-like mains, breakfasts, and dairy-free desserts.
“More than anything, this book is intended to help you realize how what you eat really does matter,” she writes. “It really does make a difference as more and more people move toward a vegetarian or vegan diet.”
