Sir Paul McCartney and daughters are launching a new vegan cookbook with the intention of encouraging sustainable and ethical eating.

Paul McCartney, his daughters Stella and Mary, and food brand Linda McCartney are launching a vegan cookbook.

Linda McCartney’s Family Kitchen will debut on 24 June 2021. It features more than 90 plant-based recipes that ‘save the planet and nourish the soul’.

Speaking about the launch on Instagram, Paul said: “Years ago, before anyone had woken up to the idea of environmental and health and animal welfare issues, Linda was blazing the trail with vegetarianism, telling people about it and promoting it. In the book there are family photographs and stories from those days, and of course lots of great, beautiful tasting healthy recipes.”

Meat Free Monday

The McCartney family has a long history of interest in sustainable food. Back in 2019, Paul and his daughters launched the Meat Free Monday campaign. The initiative encourages participants to eschew from eating animal products for at least one day of the week. It says this will help slow climate change, conserve precious natural resources and improve people’s health.

“Farmed animals are subjected to mutilations such as having their beaks clipped, their teeth pulled out and their tails docked to stop them from pecking and wounding each other through boredom and frustration,” the initiative’s website reads. “All farmed animals end their lives with a brutal death at the slaughterhouse. Choosing plant-based food is a compassionate step that helps prevent cruelty and suffering.”
