A small vegan company, Rebel Kitchen, has made a donation of 14 000 vegan milkshakes to UK food banks, and hospitals battling the coronavirus crisis.
According to reports, food banks are suffering, as people continue to stockpile and reduce donations. And as the pandemic intensifies, health workers have struggled to buy the food and drink items they need, with supermarket shelves left bare by other shoppers.
Now Rebel Kitchen has donated shakes in a bid to help some of those in need. In addition, the brand has put out a call asking to be connected with more hospitals and food banks so it can donate more products.
‘Trying to help’
“We recently made the decision to donate 14,000 of our Mylk Shakes to hospitals and food banks nationwide, and now we’re taking more suggestions to try and help as much as possible,” a spokesperson told Plant Based News.
“Despite being a small business, we wanted to act like Rebels, setting an example and supporting those in need.”
Coronavirus
It is believed the coronavirus started at a ‘wet market’ – where live animals are freshly slaughtered and kept in close proximity to humans and dead animals – in Wuhan, China in early December.
Since then, the virus has infected more than 386,317 people globally, killing around 16,713.
